One of Ensonify’s co-founders Lewis Kirton performing phased array ultrasonic testing on Inconel lined pipe strings for one of our Aberdeen based clients. Ensonify designed a complex scanning plan which utilised several linear & sectorial groups to detect indications based on the client’s acceptance criteria.
This was a fantastic project for our new Sonatest Veo 3’s as the units fast processing power dealt with the large volumes of data with ease.
One of Ensonify’s advanced UT technicians performing phased array ultrasonic testing on a slew ring as part of a validation program for one of our Aberdeen based clients. Ensonify designed a complex scanning plan which utilised sectorial groups to detect seeded defects which were designed by Ensonify & agreed based on the client’s acceptance criteria.
Ensonify design & perform validations using Phased array ultrasonic techniques on various non-standard components & material types to meet our client requirements.
Ensonify recently completed an in-service Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD) inspection of various pressure vessel welds for a valued onshore client.
Preferential Weld Root Corrosion is a significant concern in the oil and gas industry, which can lead to unplanned shutdowns and the premature retirement of assets.
Welds can often be more susceptible to degradation compared to the adjacent parent material. The resultant corrosion profile local to welds can be very unique, and because of the weld cap restriction, the degradation can be difficult to detect and size using conventional NDT methods. These methods, such as Manual UT rely primarily on the angular reflection of an Ultrasonic signal.
ToFD is a diffraction based Ultrasonic technique and therefore does not rely on reflection of Ultrasound – making it less susceptible to irregular defect profiles/orientations. This makes ToFD extremely accurate at sizing flaws and has led to ToFD being recognised as the industry standard in the defection and sizing of Preferential Weld Root Corrosion.
One of Ensonify’s advanced ultrasonics teams had a nice road trip last week to support one of our UK based clients. The workscope included phased array ultrasonic testing on small bore boiler tubes in accordance with ISO 20601.
Despite a long drive, cramped conditions & weekend nightshift working the team are still smiling. Fantastic effort & commitment to quality by the Ensonify workforce. Safe journey home ready for the next project.
Ensonify has been on the road delivering advanced ultrasonic workshops for some of our UK based clients. The Ensonify team had a fantastic time demonstrating some of our key advanced UT applications such as small bore PAUT corrosion mapping, bolt inspection, nozzle inspection & flange face corrosion.
We were also accompanied by Malcolm Connolly from C-Bird (www.c-bird.com) who works closely with Ensonify to support our drone-based projects. Malcolm was kind enough to demonstrate ultrasonic thickness measurements by drone which shall also be offered by Ensonify to confirm our commitment to providing groundbreaking inspection technologies.
It was great to have the interaction with our clients where numerous potential NDT solutions were discussed for certain items & operating conditions. Research & development will ensure we provide our clients with the most suitable techniques to inspect these items, which will in turn deliver more accurate data/results. The Ensonify team is always up for a challenge & are already looking into several solutions.
